The article for my Kilimanjaro climb was in the paper on Friday.
I was somewhat surprised to read that I am planning to climb Kilimanjaro actually wearing the banana suit. What? I definitely did not tell the journalist that. The prospect of this was a source of huge hilarity in the Seatons office on the day of publication. Can you imagine what that would be like?
The temperatures on Kilimanjaro will range from a very humid 30 degrees in the rain forest areas at lower altitudes to a frosty minus 20 degrees in the glacier region, this would make a foam banana costume an extremely impratical outfit to wear, suited to neither extreme. Let alone the restrictions of the outfit itself which would make the trek the equivalent of the longest sack race in the world!
Believe me, this climb will be more than enough of a challenge for me without adding on this extra dimension.
The use of the banana costume will be restricted to fund raising activities. Apologies to anyone for whom this is a disappointment.
