Training in the wake of a yomper

Yomper - def. One who yomps

Over the past three weeks I have joined my fellow Kili team members, my sister Lisa and her husband Justin (affectionately known to me as 'brother-in-law'), in 10-12 mile walks in and around the Woodbridge and Aldeburgh area. They are 'au fait' with the local footpaths, therefore, I can follow their lead safe in the knowledge that I will not get lost. I have enjoyed these walks immensely, it's far more rewarding walking with company, the walks seem to fly by and I now find myself at the stage of my training where I feel more energetic at the end of a 10 mile walk than at the beginning....this is progress indeed.

On these walks I have discovered that Justin is a yomper (I mean this most respectfully!). He 'yomps' ahead into the distance leaving Lisa and I in his wake, I have the distinct impression that when we climb Kilimanjaro I will be spending each day watching his back disappearing speedily into the distance.
